Meet the champions of the EU Sparks for Climate!🎉

After months of dedication, creativity, and 14 local hackathons across Europe, the EU Sparks for Climate has crowned its three champions of the first European Citizens Hackathon Championship. 

During the final event, held on 10-11 October 2024, has brought together a total of 27 teams composed of citizens and researchers from various backgrounds. These teams have showcased their innovative solutions online to a broad audience and a panel of high level experts gathered in Brussels. And now, it’s time to celebrate the three champions!

Before the final results, nine teams have been recognized as finalists:

🔹deICE – winners of Trondheim Hackathon
🔹Green Cool Innovators– winners of Kassel & Klagenfurt Hackathon
🔹HempSustain Builders – winners of Coimbra Hackathon
🔹Plimira – winners of Athens Hackathon
🔹Smog Busters Alliance– winners of Burgas Hackathon
🔹The Nettuniani– winners of Coimbra Hackathon
🔹ToysAreGreen – winners of Madrid Hackathon

As part of their rewards, the three winning teams will receive a cash prize of €5,000 and a range of support activities to help them achieve impact with their solutions, either in the form of market deployment, societal uptake or policy adoption. These activities include support in the form of expert mentoring to advance the definition of their ideas, support in the implementation of a crowdfunding campaign as a source of funding for their ideas, and a matchmaking event where the teams will meet potential stakeholders, problem owners and investors. Some of these activities will be extended to the finalists.
