In Austria, the EU Missions on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities are met with a strategic focus on knowledge management, citizens’ engagement tools development, and social innovation/governance innovation in the context of adaptation. These key areas of expertise underscore the commitment to address climate challenges and enhance urban resilience. By aligning with the priorities outlined in the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2023-2024, Austria aims to foster innovation and citizen participation in climate action. With a particular emphasis on mobility and citizen engagement within initiatives like the EU Mission City Klagenfurt, Austria is poised to empower its communities for climate action through digital tools and collaborative approaches. Through these concerted efforts, Austria aspires to contribute significantly to the EU’s mission of creating climate-neutral and smart cities while effectively addressing adaptation challenges.

IAAI GloCha

IAAI GloCha, based in Klagenfurt (Austria), promotes global climate action. It empowers individuals for EU and UN climate goals. Through projects like “Just Energy Transition for All” and the Climate Chain Coalition, it develops digital tools for citizen engagement. As members of the Online EU Mission Adaptation Community and accredited to the UNFCCC, it links digital innovation with global climate governance.
