Smion

Smion (formerly Lean Startup Croatia) is an innovation hub fostering entrepreneurship and innovation. Dedicated to empowering startups, we provide tailored tools and programs from idea validation to market entry. With 67 projects executed, 230+ educational sessions, and 50+ events, our impact is evident through engagement with over 3,000 users. Our services span incubation to venture building, emphasizing agrifood, healthtech, and greentech sectors, aligning with EU missions such as Adaptation to Climate Change and achieving Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities. We directly support sustainable food production, healthcare technology, and environmental innovation to contribute to these EU goals.

Mentors

Marta Kaprale

I’m a social impact innovator and storyteller, shaping new paradigms. With backgrounds in film, business, education, science communication, I fuse innovation and storytelling to drive change, guiding organizations towards SDGs and individuals towards meaningful contribution within their endeavours.

Vlad Gliga

I am passioned to identify and scale smart tech solutions that can make our world a better place. Together with a community of people aligned in values we develop programs designed to inspire, educate and accelerate global successful startups.

Danijel Bertovic

I help people realize their ambitious visions through the successful creation and implementation of their projects. I’m member of board in climate consulting company while I also worked in business support institution where I learn how to help start ups to develop idea and get financing.

Luka Lugaric

Luka Lugaric is an expert in project management, climate change strategy and industrial decarbonization with 18+ years of global experience. Holds a Master’s in Sustainability Leadership from Cambridge. Founder of his own consulting company. Certified in PMP and Prince 2.

Marcela Postigo Fonoll

Expert in Sustainability and Strategic Development in organizations. Coordinator in the Marina Baja Region of the Alicante Association of Businesswomen, Professionals and Managers. Head of Communication at WeAll Iberia. Instructor for: B Community Spain & SDG International Network.

Raúl Sánchez

Since 2005, he works at CARTIF’s Agrifood & Processes Division. He is now the Head of Natural Resources & Climate Area. He has coordinated H2020 and HE projects. His expertise lies in urban ecology, NBS, water management, city renaturalization, agroecology and climate change adaptation & mitigation.

Kaspars Ozols

Dr. Ozols is deputy director and senior researcher at EDI, and a member of scientific council of the INSIDE Association. Ph.D. in Electronics. Author of 35+ scientific articles. He has implemented 15+ EU research projects, mentored 10+ start-ups and supported commercialization of 5 technologies.

Hermes Arriaga

Entrepreneur and business innovator with an engineering degree and an MSc in environmental economics. With 15+ years of experience in the private and civil spciety, I guide startups and SMEs globally, consult international organizations, and specialize in business transformation.
